Introduction

On 20 March 2020, 12  COVID 19 Contaminations were registered in Mauritius: 3+4+5 starting on 18 March.Eventually, the first LOCKDOWN was declared by the PM of Mauritius starting from 20 March.  The COVID 19 PREDICTION for Mauritius was made by PKANHYE Researcher on the same 20 March 2020, as follows: 10-15 Deaths and 350 Contaminations. In fact, as at date, 10 citizens have lost their life and 340 are Contaminated. Keep Watch for more.

(1) Prime Minister PK Jugnauth announced at 5.20 pm on Friday 12 June 2020: the re-opening of all social and religious activities, as from MONDAY 15 JUNE 2020; all schools will re-start normally as from 01 JULY 2020 instead of 01 AUGUST. (2) The CURFEW WAS PARTIALLY  WAIVED AT MIDNIGHT OF SATURDAY 30 MAY 2020. (3) The Flacq Hospital will now bear the name of late DR. BRUNO CHEONG who died on Monday 27 April 2020, while treating the COIVD 19 patients. (4) One 46 years old male foreigner who had been cured of COVID 19, who was SHOWING SIGNS OF POSITIVE-NEGATIVE Undetermined Results, has been tested NEGATIVE on Sunday last, after he ran away from the Wellkin Hospital. (5) Dr Bruno Cheong who treated PATIENT ZERO died on Monday 27 April making the 10th Death. (Read more Article below). 9th Death of 50 years of age and 8th Death of 63 Years recorded on 10 April. 7th DEATH recorded on 02 April. Local media state that he is a Police Officer, AGED 59. MBC TV evening Update  Wednesday 01 April, released the information from Dr Gujadur of National Communication Committee that there is now a 6th DEATH (the 20 years old girl). The 5th one, a man aged 71 died on 30 March. The latter had returned from abroad and been admitted in Souillac hospital on 29 March. Unfortunately, he died after complications. (6) DISASTER RESILIENCE IS THE ''WEALTH-OF-THE-NATION".

COVID 19 Mauritius Update 16 days after CURFEW ENDED.


NB: Neither the MBC Tv nor the Ministry of Health and Wellness FACEBOOK Page released any update on COVID 19 on Sunday last 14 June.

However, the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television updated the following during the evening news at 7.45 pm of Monday 15 June 2020, which is also the First NEW NORMAL DAY:
1) There is NO NEW Contamination which has been recorded during the last 24 hours;


2) The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is now 337, including the 10 Deaths;


3) A Total number of 325 patients have recovered;


4) There are 2 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital, apart from 3 others who have gone abroad for treatment and


5) 568 passengers are in quarantines.


A Total of 147,956 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 33,194 PCR Tests in total and 114,762 Rapid Tests.

World Wide: 8,109,128 COVID 19 POSITIVE and 436,144 DEATHS.

The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television updated the following during the evening news at 6.15 pm of Tuesday 16 June 2020:
A) There is NO NEW Contamination which has been recorded during the last 24 hours;


B) The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is now 337, including the 10 Deaths;


C) A Total number of 325 patients have recovered;


D) There are 2 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital, apart from 3 others who have gone abroad for treatment and


E) 563 passengers are in quarantines.


A Total of 149,898 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 33,194 PCR Tests in total and 116,707 Rapid Tests.

The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television updated the following during the evening news at 7.36 pm of Monday 22 June 2020:

1)  There are 3 NEW CONTAMINATIONS which have been recorded during the last 24 hours. 2 Men and 1 Woman who were repatriated from Madagascar on Saturday 20 June 2020. They are under treatment at ENT Hospital;

2)  The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is 340, including the 10 Deaths;

3)  A Total number of 326 patients have recovered and

4)  There are 4 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital, apart from 3 others who have gone abroad for treatment.

A Total of 164,182 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 35,285 PCR Tests in total and 128,897 Rapid Tests.

There was NO UPDATE released neither by the MBC TV nor on the Facebook Page of the Ministry of Health and Wellness on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June 2020, respectively. 
The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television updated the following during the evening news at 6.02 pm of Wednesday 24 June 2020:
A) There is 1 NEW CONTAMINATION which has been recorded during the last 24 hours. 1 passenger was repatriated from India on Monday 22 June 2020. He/she was in a quarantine and is now under treatment at ENT Hospital;
B) The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is 341, including the 10 Deaths;
C) A Total number of 326 patients have recovered;
D) There are 5 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital and
E) 550 passengers are in quarantines.


A Total of 171,792 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 35,239 PCR Tests in total and 135,553 Rapid Tests.

The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television updated the following during the evening news at 7.30 pm of Monday 06 July 2020:
A) There is ONE NEW CONTAMINATION which has been recorded during the last 24 hours. It concerns a passenger who left Zambia and reached Paris to be repatriated, amongst a hundred others, to Mauritius on Sunday 05 July. Before his embarkation at Paris, he was tested negative. After being quarantined on Sunday 05 July, his test turned POSITIVE. He is now admitted for care at ENT Hospital;
B) The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is 342, including the 10 Deaths;
C) A Total number of 330 patients have recovered;
D) There are 2 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital and
E) 606 passengers are in quarantines.


A Total of 195,561 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 39,751 PCR Tests in total and 153,810 Rapid Tests.

COVID 19 Mauritius Update 43 days after CURFEW ENDED and 27 days after First NEW NORMAL DAY.


There was NO UPDATE released neither by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Television nor on the Facebook Page of the Ministry of Health and Wellness since Wednesday 06 July 2020. 


 The MBC TV updated the following during the evening news at 7.30 pm of Monday 13 July 2020:

i) There is ONE NEW CONTAMINATION which has been recorded during the last 24 hours. It concerns a passenger who reached Mauritius on Saturday 11 July on board of a medical flight from Madagascar. He has been admitted to ENT Hospital for COVID 19 treatment. Two other persons who accompanied him have been quarantined;

ii) The TOTAL COVID 19 POSITIVE is 343, including the 10 Deaths;

iii) A Total number of 330 patients have recovered;

    iv) There are 3 Active cases being treated at ENT Hospital and 

     v) 685 passengers are in quarantines.

  A Total of 202,000 Tests have been carried out in Mauritius: 43,000 PCR Tests in total and 159,000 Rapid Tests.
