GUAMBE Moderate Tropical Storm-
7th of South Indian Ocean 2020-2021
Météo-France-Réunion, which is the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre (RSMC) of the South Indian Ocean Basin, already gave indications of the formation of the 7th Cyclone.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) also indicated the formation of the Cyclone in the Mozambique Channel. As this is a Hot Spot of this zone with prevailing Sea Surface Temperature (SST) ranging from 280 to 310 Celsius, it is sufficient for the birth of a Cyclone.
Météo Madagascar (MM), whose Area of Responsibility (AOR) is between Latitudes 550 East to 350 East, named the System as GUAMBE Moderate Tropical Storm on Wednesday 17 February 2021.
MM published the following Special Bulletin:

- La Dépression Tropicale dans le Canal de Mozambique s’est intensifiée en Tempête Tropicale et a été baptisée au nom de GUAMBE par Météo Madagascar. A 15 heures locales, son centre est localisé à 651 Km à l’Ouest-Nord-Ouest de Morombe. Elle se déplace vers le Sud à raison de 05 Km/h. Le vent moyen est de 65 Km/h avec des rafales de 100 Km/h autour du centre de la circulation.
- Un virage vers le Sud-Sud-Est puis Sud est attendu à compter de la nuit prochaine et devrait laisser Madagascar en dehors de danger potentiel.
- Par conséquent, Il n’y a pas d’alerte cyclone à Madagascar. On assiste désormais au retour à un temps classique d’été. Le risque des fortes pluies est écarté.

There is a general consensus that GUAMBE will intensify further into a Tropical Cyclone. In addition, GUAMBE is also forecast to continue keeping its intensity despite its Trajectory towards the South and South-East in the Subtropical Zone of South Pole. Moreover, Floods are expected in Mozambique and Malawi during its passage.

At 0400hours, moderate tropical storm GUAMBE was centred around the point 22.4 degrees South in latitude and 37. 4 degrees East in longitude. It is moving slowly towards the South and will not directly influence weather over Mauritius.]]]
